LONGITUDINAL CRACKING (WHEEL PATH CRACKING)
Cracking in the way of flow of traffic, typically at the edge of wheel paths.

Cause:

Pavement that is fatigued or “worn out” from heavy traffic (particularly the side walls of high pressure truck tires)

An unstable base

Poor construction

Solutions - Cures:
Numerous options are available, based on cruelty of the cracking and the condition of the pavement structure.

For very small cracking, the important thing is to avoid moisture from entering the crack and damaging the underlying structure.

More severe longitudinal cracking typically indicates a larger problem with pavement structure.
